VEF Minox — Kādēļ VEF MINOX kamerai nav blendes? Hallo Latvija. 1939, No. 506.

Stopping down (using a diaphragm) requires extending the exposure time, which must always be calculated correctly, and is therefore the amateur photographer’s greatest worry.

The purpose of using a diaphragm is to reduce the lens opening and increase the depth of field. Since the lens opening of the VEF MINOX camera is very small, despite its high light-gathering power of 1:3.5 — stopping down is not necessary, because the depth of field is very large and photography is always done with a fully open lens.

This achievement represents a significant simplification of construction and picture-taking.
