Pirmā VEF mazkamera Valsts Prezidentam. Rīts. 1938, No. 303.

Yesterday, President Kārlis Ulmanis received and held talks with Minister of Agriculture J. Birznieks. Afterwards, the President received the director of the State Electrotechnical Factory, A. Vītols, who arrived to present the President with the first camera produced by the factory, named “Minox”.

The new device, whose construction we reported on in April, is smaller than a regular matchbox and weighs 125 grams without film. This camera can easily fit in a vest pocket. Despite this, the Minox has a very high light sensitivity of 1:3.5. Another advantage is that, due to its short focus, it is possible to photograph objects as close as 20 cm away, and all objects further than 2 m can be photographed without any special focus settings. 9×11 mm format negative images can be enlarged to any desired size. Minox will be equipped with all the modern accessories that make a photographer’s work easier, and it is likely to be very popular not only in Latvia but also abroad. The price is expected to be less than 200 lats.
